Management of the new bank said the merger combines Providus Bank’s technology-driven banking expertise with Unity Bank’s extensive branch network across Nigeria. The institution believes the integration will strengthen financial inclusion, improve lending capacity, expand access to banking services and enhance support for businesses, small and medium-sized enterprises and retail customers.
Customers have been assured that existing banking services remain operational throughout the integration process. While the transition continues behind the scenes, the bank said clients will gradually gain access to improved digital banking platforms, enhanced technology infrastructure, broader banking channels and a wider network designed to deliver faster and more efficient services.
The merger is also expected to reinforce the stability of Nigeria’s banking sector as financial institutions continue to strengthen their capital base in line with the Central Bank of Nigeria’s recapitalisation programme. Industry observers believe the enlarged bank will be better positioned to finance economic growth, mobilise investments and compete more effectively within the country’s evolving financial landscape.
The latest rebranding follows a growing trend in Nigeria’s banking industry, where merged institutions are adopting unified identities to streamline operations and provide customers with a seamless banking experience.
