The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has issued a strong warning to the Federal Government over the worsening insecurity across the country, demanding urgent and decisive action to halt the growing wave of kidnappings and protect Nigerian children from terror attacks and abductions.
The labour union expressed deep concern over the recent surge in kidnappings, particularly the increasing attacks on schools and communities, describing the situation as a national emergency that threatens the safety and future of millions of Nigerians. The NLC stated that what once appeared to be isolated incidents in remote areas has now evolved into a frightening reality spreading rapidly across towns and cities.

The NLC further noted that communities across the country increasingly feel abandoned as bandits and terrorists continue to terrorize residents, abduct students, and demand huge ransoms from families already battling economic hardship. The congress maintained that the safety of children must become a top national priority before the country descends into deeper chaos.
The statement also emphasized the urgent need for improved intelligence gathering, rapid emergency response systems, and better coordination among security agencies. The labour body called on federal and state governments to stop treating insecurity as routine political rhetoric and instead adopt aggressive measures capable of restoring public confidence.
