Global music icon Shakira has sent football and music fans into a frenzy after unveiling a teaser for the official 2026 FIFA World Cup song featuring Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy.

The highly anticipated track, titled Dai Dai, was previewed through a visually stunning teaser released on social media from the famous Maracanã Stadium, one of football’s most iconic venues. The teaser immediately sparked excitement among fans worldwide, many of whom described the collaboration as a perfect fusion of global pop and African musical energy.

The upcoming anthem marks another major World Cup moment for Shakira, who remains one of the most recognizable artists associated with football tournaments. The Colombian singer previously delivered the legendary 2010 World Cup anthem Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), a song widely regarded as one of the greatest football anthems ever created. She also performed Hips Don’t Lie during the 2006 World Cup festivities and later released La La La (Brazil 2014) for the 2014 tournament, cementing her status as a recurring musical face of FIFA celebrations.  ..READ THE FULL ARTICLE HERE .

This time, however, the inclusion of Burna Boy has added a fresh African influence to the tournament’s soundtrack. The Grammy winning Nigerian singer has become one of Africa’s biggest global music exports over the last decade, helping push Afrobeats onto the international stage through collaborations, sold out tours, and chart topping releases. Many fans have described his inclusion in the World Cup anthem as another major victory for African music and culture on the global stage.

According to reports, the full version of Dai Dai is expected to be officially released on May 14 ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by United States, Canada, and Mexico. The tournament is scheduled to kick off on June 11, 2026, with the final set to take place on July 19.

The teaser video showcased colorful choreography, energetic dancers, football imagery, and emotional scenes designed to capture the spirit of unity and excitement surrounding the world’s biggest sporting event. In one striking moment, fireworks light up the stadium as the phrase “We are ready” flashes across the screen, signaling the beginning of another football spectacle.

Music critics have already begun comparing the song’s vibe to Shakira’s previous World Cup classics, with many fans on social media praising FIFA’s decision to bring her back once again. Some users described the teaser as nostalgic while others celebrated the blend of Latin pop and Afrobeats, predicting the song could dominate charts and stadiums throughout the tournament.

The collaboration also represents another landmark achievement for Burna Boy, whose international influence continues to grow beyond traditional music circles into sports, fashion, and entertainment. Analysts believe the partnership reflects FIFA’s increasing recognition of African music’s global commercial and cultural power.

With anticipation already building around the 2026 World Cup, the release of the official anthem has added even more excitement to preparations for the tournament. For millions of football fans around the world, the combination of Shakira’s World Cup legacy and Burna Boy’s Afrobeats dominance could produce one of the most memorable tournament songs in recent history.
