The All Progressives Congress, APC, has announced that it has successfully completed the upload of its candidates for all elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The National Chairman of the ruling party, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, disclosed this following the completion of the exercise, describing the development as a demonstration of the party’s preparedness, organisation and ability to coordinate its structures across the country.

He explained that the exercise involved extensive coordination between the APC national leadership, its state chapters, candidates and election management teams across all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
The APC chairman said the party’s ability to complete the process within the original timeframe showed that it had planned ahead and was determined not to leave important electoral preparations until the last minute.
Yilwatda said the development was particularly significant given the scale of the 2027 general elections and the number of candidates and party structures involved in the submission process.
He maintained that political parties should be assessed not only on their campaign promises but also on their internal organisation, preparedness and ability to comply with electoral regulations.
The APC chairman further stated that completing the candidate upload would enable the party to concentrate on other crucial aspects of its preparations for the 2027 elections. These include campaign coordination, engagement with candidates, grassroots mobilisation, strengthening party structures and communicating the party’s policies to voters.
The development comes as political parties continue preparations for the 2027 general elections amid increasing political activities across the country.
INEC had set deadlines for political parties to submit the names and particulars of their candidates through its online nomination portal. The commission subsequently extended the deadline for the submission of candidates’ lists from August 8 to August 11, 2026, allowing parties that were yet to complete the process additional time to do so.
Yilwatda commended members of the APC National Working Committee, state party leaders, candidates, election management teams and other officials who participated in the process.
He, however, cautioned party members that completing the candidate upload was only one stage of the party’s preparations, stressing that much more work remained ahead of the 2027 polls.
The APC chairman urged members to remain united, disciplined and focused as the party moves into the next phase of its preparations.
With the 2027 elections drawing closer, the ruling party’s claim of completing its candidate submission ahead of the original deadline is expected to add momentum to its preparations, while opposition parties continue working to finalise their own structures and candidate lists.
The development also places greater attention on the candidates who will ultimately represent the various political parties as the country gradually moves into another highly competitive electoral season.
