Fulham head coach Alvaro Arbeloa has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association following comments he made about refereeing decisions after his side’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United.
The charge relates to remarks Arbeloa made during a post-match interview after the Premier League encounter at Craven Cottage on September 20, 2026.

Arbeloa was frustrated after Manchester United scored a late equaliser through Matheus Cunha, whose effort took a deflection before finding the net in the 89th minute.
The Fulham manager particularly questioned a free-kick awarded to United shortly before the equaliser. He argued that the decision involving Harry Maguire was questionable and claimed that several calls during the match had gone in United’s favour.
Arbeloa also referred to the previous Manchester derby and suggested that officials would not allow Manchester United to lose the match against Fulham.
FA Announces Misconduct Charge
The FA subsequently announced that Arbeloa had been charged over his comments.
According to the governing body, the Fulham manager is alleged to have acted improperly by making comments during a post-match interview that implied bias and/or questioned the integrity of a match official.
Arbeloa has until Thursday, October 1, to respond to the charge. No punishment has been announced at this stage.
Manchester United Snatched Late Point
Fulham appeared to be heading towards victory after taking the lead through an own goal by Manchester United defender Lisandro Martínez.
However, Cunha’s late effort rescued a point for United and left Fulham frustrated after coming close to securing their first league victory of the campaign.
The result added to Arbeloa’s difficult start since taking charge of Fulham, with the former Real Madrid defender still searching for his first Premier League victory.
Arbeloa Yet to Face Final Decision
The misconduct charge does not represent a final finding against Arbeloa. He has the opportunity to respond before the FA determines what action, if any, should follow.
The case will therefore remain under consideration while Arbeloa and Fulham prepare for their next Premier League fixtures.
For now, the focus is on Arbeloa’s response to the FA charge and whether the governing body will impose any disciplinary sanction after considering his explanation.
