President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after spending about four weeks in Europe, declaring that he is healthy, sound and ready to continue his duties.
The President arrived in Lagos on Tuesday, September 29, after travelling to the United Kingdom and France during an extended working vacation.

“I enjoyed myself. Fantastic,” the President said when asked about his vacation.
Responding to questions about his health, Tinubu said he was “ready to kick” and “ready to walk,” adding that there was nothing wrong with him.
“Rumour will always be emanating from politics, but the facts remain, I’m here. Healthy, sound, and ready to go,” he said.
Tinubu had initially left Nigeria on August 30 for a three-week vacation but later extended his stay by a few days.
His prolonged absence generated political debate, particularly after he did not attend the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York. Vice President Kashim Shettima represented Nigeria at the gathering and delivered the country’s national statement.
The Presidency had maintained that Tinubu remained in contact with developments in Nigeria and continued to direct the affairs of government while abroad.
During his stay in France, Tinubu held meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron, business leaders and other prominent figures. He also participated in engagements linked to investment and infrastructure projects.
The President’s return comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general election, with Tinubu seeking another term in office.
His administration has continued to defend its economic reforms, including the removal of petrol subsidy and changes to the foreign exchange system, while opposition candidates have been presenting alternative policy proposals ahead of the election.
Tinubu is expected to participate in Nigeria’s Independence Day activities on October 1 and hold further engagements in Lagos before returning to Abuja.
