Abia State Governor Alex Otti has said he will not become a political godfather or attempt to impose a successor on the state after completing his second tenure in 2031.

Otti made the statement in Umuahia while receiving former Social Democratic Party governorship candidate Ngozi Johnson Chukwunenye and her supporters into the Labour Party. He said political succession should be based on identifying the most suitable candidate rather than allowing leaders to remain influential indefinitely.

The governor also reiterated that he does not intend to seek another elective position after completing his tenure, saying he wants younger people to have opportunities to take over leadership responsibilities...READ THE FULL ARTICLE HERE .

Otti said that when the time comes, stakeholders would consider potential successors and support the person they collectively regard as suitable for the position. He also pointed to youth development initiatives, including the Abia Leadership Academy, as part of efforts to prepare younger people for future leadership.

He further said his administration would continue its development programmes across Abia, noting that work initially focused on Aba and Umuahia before expanding to other parts of the state.
