Chelsea Ownership Shifts as Boehly and Walter Sell Stakes to Clearlake

Chelsea have undergone a major ownership change after Todd Boehly and Mark Walter agreed to sell their stakes in the club to Clearlake Capital, giving the investment firm full control of the Premier League side.

Clearlake previously held a 61.5 percent stake, while Boehly and Walter each owned about 12.8 percent. Their combined shares have now been acquired in a deal reported to value Chelsea at around £5 billion, with the transaction involving approximately £950 million.

Despite the ownership transition, Chelsea have said there will be no immediate changes to the club’s day to day operations, leadership or overall strategy. Clearlake has also indicated that it intends to continue investing in the club’s infrastructure, player development and sporting operations.

The change marks the end of Boehly’s formal role at Chelsea after four years and gives Clearlake greater control as the club continues its plans under manager Xabi Alonso.
