Nigeria is set to strengthen its diplomatic and economic ties with Germany as the country’s Foreign Minister, Johann Wadephul, begins a two day official visit aimed at deepening cooperation on regional security, economic development, trade and investment. The high profile visit is expected to feature strategic engagements in Lagos and Abuja, reflecting the growing importance of Nigeria in Germany’s engagement with Africa.
According to the German Embassy, Wadephul will be accompanied by a delegation comprising chief executive officers and senior executives of leading German companies operating in the information technology and energy sectors, as well as members of the German Parliament. The visit is designed to reinforce existing bilateral relations while opening new opportunities for investment and commercial partnerships between both countries.
In Abuja, the German Foreign Minister is expected to hold talks with Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, and the President of the Economic Community of West African States Commission, Dr Omar Touray.
