A female student of Osun State University, identified simply as Ademola, has recounted a traumatic experience during the recent invasion of student hostels by soldiers from the Army Depot in Osogbo, alleging that she was physically assaulted after military personnel forced their way into her room.

Speaking in a video that surfaced online, the student said she was alone in her hostel preparing a meal when she first noticed soldiers moving around the area. Believing the situation had settled, she remained indoors until the officers allegedly returned and demanded that she open her door.

According to her account, one of the soldiers asked how many people were inside the room before becoming aggressive after learning that her roommate was absent. The incident is part of the wider allegations surrounding the invasion of off campus hostels occupied by UNIOSUN students on Monday evening. Several students reportedly suffered physical assaults, while more than 60 mobile phones and other valuables were allegedly taken during the raid. Some female students also claimed they were stripped and subjected to degrading treatment by the soldiers, who were said to have participated in the Army Depot’s passing out parade days earlier.

Following public outrage, the Nigerian Army Depot in Osogbo announced that it had commenced an investigation into the allegations after receiving a formal complaint from the National Association of Nigerian Students, South West Zone D. Military authorities stated that the investigation is intended to establish the facts surrounding the incident and assured the public that any personnel found culpable would face appropriate disciplinary and legal action.

The allegations have sparked widespread calls from students, civil society groups and members of the public for a thorough and transparent investigation. Many have urged the military to ensure justice for the affected students while reinforcing measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
