Former Kaduna State First Lady, Hadiza Isma El-Rufai, has generated widespread reactions on social media after correcting a grammatical expression in an old post made by President Bola Tinubu on national security. Her brief intervention quickly went viral, reigniting discussions about the original message and its political context.

The exchange centred on a post shared by Tinubu on April 14, 2014, during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan. In the post, Tinubu wrote, “On matters of security, the bulk stops at the President’s table,” while holding the president ultimately responsible for the country’s security challenges at the time. On Thursday, Hadiza El-Rufai replied with a one-word correction, writing “*buck,” pointing out that the well-known expression is “the buck stops here,” a phrase that signifies ultimate responsibility or accountability.

Although the correction was only a single word, it quickly attracted thousands of reactions from Nigerians on X. While some users praised Hadiza for spotting the error and viewed her comment as light-hearted, others interpreted it as a subtle political statement, particularly given the ongoing legal and political challenges involving her husband, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.  ..READ THE FULL ARTICLE HERE .

The viral exchange prompted many social media users to revisit Tinubu’s 2014 comments on security and compare them with the country’s current security situation. Others focused on the timing of Hadiza’s response, suggesting that the correction carried a deeper message beyond grammar, while some simply saw it as an amusing interaction on social media.

The incident has once again demonstrated how even a brief social media comment can ignite nationwide conversations, blending politics, language, and public opinion. As reactions continue to pour in, the exchange has become one of the latest viral moments in Nigeria’s online political discourse, with users offering varying interpretations of Hadiza El-Rufai’s now widely discussed correction.
