The Caribbean nation of Grenada has announced visa-free access for Nigerian passport holders in a major diplomatic and economic move aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between both countries and expanding opportunities in trade, tourism, and investment. The development is expected to make travel easier for Nigerians while opening new doors for business collaboration across multiple sectors.

According to Grenada’s Consul to Nigeria, Ambassador Abidemi Sonoiki, the decision is part of a broader strategy to deepen economic ties between Grenada and Africa’s largest economy. He explained that the Caribbean country has already approved free entry for Nigerians and is currently awaiting reciprocal approval from the Nigerian government through diplomatic channels.

The initiative is also designed to encourage Nigerian entrepreneurs, investors, and professionals to explore opportunities in Grenada, particularly in sectors such as tourism, aviation, real estate, agriculture, maritime services, education, and financial technology. Officials say the country is positioning itself as a gateway for Nigerian businesses seeking access to the wider Caribbean market.  ..READ THE FULL ARTICLE HERE .

Ambassador Sonoiki noted that Grenada offers a stable and business friendly environment, with a strong focus on tourism as the backbone of its economy. He added that discussions are ongoing to establish direct air connectivity between Nigeria and Grenada, a move that could further boost travel, trade, and cultural exchange between both regions.

He further stressed that the visa-free arrangement is not only about tourism but about building a long term economic corridor between Africa and the Caribbean. According to him, both regions stand to benefit significantly from stronger partnerships in education, logistics, agriculture, and investment driven cooperation.

The development has been welcomed as part of a growing trend of international efforts to strengthen ties with African markets, with Grenada expressing optimism that improved relations with Nigeria will unlock fresh opportunities for both citizens and businesses.

As diplomatic engagements continue, attention is now on how quickly reciprocal agreements will be finalised and how soon Nigerians can begin to fully enjoy visa-free travel to the Caribbean nation, alongside expanded investment opportunities.
