The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a significant breakthrough in the fight against violent crime in Kaduna State, with operatives arresting no fewer than 30 suspected kidnappers during a series of coordinated operations across the state.

The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, attributed the success to intelligence-driven policing, strategic deployments, and intensified patrol activities across volatile areas. He emphasized that the command has stepped up efforts in recent weeks to dismantle kidnapping rings and disrupt their operations before they escalate.
During the operations, security agents recovered at least five firearms along with live ammunition, including an anti-riot gun. In addition, four stolen vehicles were retrieved from suspects believed to be part of an organized car theft network operating within and beyond the state.
One of the most notable encounters occurred along the Kaduna–Abuja Expressway, a corridor often targeted by criminal elements. Police operatives reportedly engaged suspected bandits in a gun battle, forcing them to flee with gunshot injuries while abandoning an AK-47 rifle and ammunition at the scene.
In a separate rescue operation, officers successfully freed a seven-year-old boy who had been abducted in Kubau Local Government Area. The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of ₦40 million before the child was located in Soba Local Government Area. A suspect connected to the abduction was later apprehended in Katsina State and is currently assisting investigators with further leads.
The police also uncovered illegal arms in different parts of the state, including a locally fabricated AK-47 rifle and another improvised firearm hidden inside a sack. In Zaria, a suspect was arrested with 44 sealed packages of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis, adding a narcotics dimension to the ongoing security operations.
Authorities say the crackdown extended beyond kidnapping, as a syndicate involved in vehicle theft was dismantled through coordinated arrests in Kaduna, Kano, and Katsina states. Among the vehicles recovered were a Toyota Corolla and a Pontiac Vibe believed to have been stolen from unsuspecting owners.
Reaffirming the command’s resolve, CP Muhammad stated that efforts are ongoing to track down fleeing suspects and completely dismantle criminal networks operating in the region. He also acknowledged the support of the Inspector-General of Police and the Kaduna State Government, while urging residents to continue providing timely information to aid security agencies.
The latest development underscores renewed efforts by law enforcement to restore safety in Kaduna, a state that has faced persistent security challenges in recent years, particularly from kidnapping and banditry. With intensified operations and community collaboration, authorities insist they are closing in on criminal elements and making the environment increasingly hostile for unlawful activities.
