Blessing’s sister, Beady Nnanna, recounted that the surgery initially appeared successful after it was performed in late March 2026. However, days later, the patient began experiencing severe abdominal pain and swelling.

Despite repeated pleas for proper medical examination, including a scan, the hospital allegedly dismissed concerns and insisted nothing was wrong. It wasn’t until an external scan was eventually conducted that a metallic object was discovered inside her abdomen.

Shocking Discovery and Emergency Surgery

The scan reportedly revealed that a surgical instrument, believed to be scissors had been left inside her body. This led to a second emergency operation to remove the object.

By this time, her condition had significantly worsened, with infection already spreading through her system.

Final Moments and Death

Following the second surgery, her health continued to deteriorate. She was later rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, where she was admitted for further treatment.

Sadly, she died shortly after, despite efforts by medical personnel to save her life.

Hospital Reacts, Calls for Autopsy

Reacting to the allegations, the hospital’s management denied wrongdoing and stated that the exact cause of death would be determined through an autopsy. They acknowledged complications but urged the public to await official findings before drawing conclusions.

Family Demands Justice

The deceased’s family has since called for a full investigation, insisting that negligence led to her death. They are also demanding that authorities shut down the facility to prevent similar tragedies.

The case has sparked outrage online, raising fresh concerns about medical standards, patient safety, and regulation of private hospitals in Nigeria.
