Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion have joined the race to sign Nigerian forward Femi Azeez as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season.
The Seagulls are keeping a close eye on the Millwall forward, according to the Yorkshire Post, with newly promoted Premier League side Hull City also pushing to secure his services.
Brighton’s interest comes after the club completed the signing of another Nigerian youngster, Zadok Yohanna, from Swedish side AIK in June. The club are now considering Azeez as they continue to build their squad for a campaign that will include European football. Brighton finished eighth in the Premier League last season and secured qualification for the UEFA Conference League.
Azeez, however, is also a target for Hull, who are prepared to meet Millwall’s valuation as they strengthen their squad following their promotion to the Premier League.
Millwall have already rejected an offer from Ipswich Town for the 25-year-old, while manager Alex Neil recently acknowledged that the forward could leave if the club’s asking price is met before the transfer window closes.
Azeez enjoyed an outstanding 2025/26 campaign, scoring 11 goals and providing seven assists as Millwall mounted a promotion challenge and reached the Championship play-off semi-finals.
His performances earned him a place in the PFA Championship Team of the Season and a maiden senior Nigeria call-up, with the forward making an immediate impact at the 2026 Unity Cup.
Azeez scored twice on his Super Eagles debut in the semi-final before helping Nigeria beat Jamaica in the final to retain the trophy.
He also started Millwall’s opening Championship fixture of the new season against Bristol City but was forced off after 30 minutes with a hamstring problem. Neil subsequently said the club would have to wait for further assessment before determining the severity of the injury.
With Brighton and Hull now competing for his signature, Azeez could be heading for the Premier League if either club agrees a deal with Millwall. A move to Brighton would also make him the seventh Nigerian to represent the Seagulls.
