According to Nouah, the competition was intense, but another actor eventually emerged as the winner.
The veteran actor explained that losing the award did not diminish his appreciation for the recognition that came with being nominated.
Nouah remains one of the most recognisable faces in Nigerian cinema, having built a career spanning decades. He rose to prominence during the home-video era and became particularly famous for his romantic roles before successfully transitioning into more diverse acting and filmmaking projects.
His work has also earned him recognition beyond the AMVCA. He won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in The Figurine and later established himself as a director.
Nouah made his directorial debut with Living in Bondage: Breaking Free, a continuation of the classic Nigerian film. The movie went on to win major recognition, including the AMVCA Best Movie award.
Despite his achievements behind the camera and his status as one of Nollywood’s veteran actors, Nouah has yet to personally win an AMVCA acting award.
His revelation has generated fresh interest among movie lovers, with many fans recalling some of his most memorable performances and questioning whether the veteran actor has been overlooked by the awards over the years.
For Nouah, however, the absence of an AMVCA trophy has not stopped his contribution to Nollywood. His decades-long career, successful transition from acting to directing and continued involvement in major film projects have cemented his place among Nigeria’s most enduring movie stars.
The actor’s comments come as conversations around awards, recognition and the contributions of veteran Nollywood stars continue to attract attention among Nigerian movie lovers.
