Cristiano Ronaldo has called for lifetime stadium bans for supporters who taunted Al Hilal midfielder Ruben Neves with chants referencing his late friend and former Portugal teammate, Diogo Jota.
The incident occurred during Al Hilal’s Saudi Pro League clash with Al Taawoun, when sections of the crowd were heard chanting Jota’s name while Neves prepared to take a free kick.

Ronaldo strongly condemned the behaviour, insisting that football authorities must punish supporters who cross the line.
The Portugal captain said such actions had gone beyond football and argued that those responsible should never be allowed back into a stadium.
Al Hilal have also filed a formal complaint over the incident, while Saudi football authorities have condemned the chants and said appropriate action would be taken following investigations.
