McFarlane, speaking after the dismissal of former manager Liam Rosenior, admitted results have been disappointing but insisted belief remains strong within the squad.

According to him, Chelsea still possess top-quality players capable of competing at the highest level, adding that recent performances against strong opponents show the team has what it takes to recover.

The interim boss, however, faces an early setback with Brazilian winger Estevao ruled out for the rest of the season due to injury, further complicating Chelsea’s push to finish strongly.

Despite their struggles, McFarlane maintained that the focus is now on winning remaining matches and ending the campaign on a positive note, with the FA Cup offering a key opportunity to salvage pride this season.
