Former Super Eagles striker Michael Eneramo has reportedly passed away after collapsing during a football match in Kaduna State, sending shockwaves across Nigeria’s football community.
According to early reports, the 40-year-old forward slumped on the pitch during a friendly game on Friday. Eneramo, fondly nicknamed “The Tank” for his physical style of play, enjoyed a notable football career both locally and internationally. He earned caps for Nigeria’s national team and played for top clubs across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, including stints in Tunisia, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia.
During his time with the Super Eagles, he made his debut in 2009 and was known for his strength, positioning, and goal-scoring ability. Over the course of his club career, he scored over 100 goals and became a fan favourite, particularly during his spell with Esperance in Tunisia.
Following his retirement from professional football, Eneramo remained active in the sport, contributing to grassroots development and mentoring young players.
