Political tension ahead of the 2027 general elections intensified on Wednesday after the Kano State Government alleged that former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, may be secretly working to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
The controversial claim was made by the Director General of Media and Publicity at the Kano Government House, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, during an interview on Arise Television. According to him, while some politicians openly declare their support for President Tinubu, others allegedly work quietly behind the scenes to advance the president’s political interests.
Bature argued that Kwankwaso’s recent political actions and calculations appear likely to benefit the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the next presidential election.
