Ibom Air and Etihad Airways have entered into a new interline agreement aimed at improving international access to several Nigerian cities and making travel between the country and global destinations more convenient.

Under the agreement, passengers flying with Etihad will be able to connect from Lagos or Accra to Abuja, Uyo, Port Harcourt, Calabar and Enugu through Ibom Air using a single booking.

The arrangement will also allow connections between Accra and Abuja, as well as Accra and Uyo, giving travellers more options for reaching destinations across Nigeria...READ THE FULL ARTICLE HERE .

One of the major benefits of the partnership is that passengers will not need separate bookings for their connecting journeys. Their baggage will also be checked through to their final destination, making the travel process more seamless.

The agreement is expected to take effect when Etihad begins its new services to Lagos and Accra in March 2027.

Etihad is scheduled to commence daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Lagos on March 23, 2027, while flights between Abu Dhabi and Accra are expected to begin the following day with four services per week.

The partnership is expected to strengthen Ibom Air’s position as an important domestic and regional connector while giving Etihad passengers easier access to destinations beyond Lagos and Accra.

For Ibom Air, the agreement represents another major step in its ambition to expand its role beyond domestic aviation and become a stronger regional airline.

The deal is particularly significant for cities such as Uyo and Calabar, which will gain direct access to Etihad’s wider international network through the new arrangement.

Passengers travelling for business, tourism, family visits and other purposes will be able to combine Etihad’s international network with Ibom Air’s domestic routes under one booking.

Tickets combining the networks of both airlines are expected to go on sale from November 3, 2026, ahead of the commencement of the new Etihad services in March 2027.

The development comes as both airlines continue to expand their networks and strengthen Nigeria’s connection to international markets, potentially making travel to and from several Nigerian cities easier for passengers around the world.
