Portugal midfielder Vitinha has praised manager Jorge Jesus after the national team produced an impressive performance in their latest match, saying the coach’s influence is already beginning to show.
Portugal secured a 2–0 victory over Denmark, giving Jesus a positive result as he continues his early spell in charge of the national team. The performance also came shortly after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo from the squad, adding further attention to Portugal’s new-look setup.

The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder described the victory as an important result, particularly because Denmark had previously proved difficult opposition for Portugal.
He said the team had produced an excellent performance and stressed that the players were increasingly absorbing the manager’s tactical ideas as they continued to work together.
Vitinha also highlighted the improvement in Portugal’s attacking play, suggesting that the team took a significant step forward in the way they created and approached opportunities.
The midfielder said the players were responding positively to Jesus’ methods and that the manager’s work was becoming increasingly visible on the pitch.
Portugal’s performance was particularly notable because of the changes taking place within the national team. Jesus has inherited a squad containing several experienced players alongside a younger generation looking to establish themselves as important figures.
The victory therefore provided an early indication of how the team could develop under the new manager, although further matches will be required before any long term conclusions can be drawn.
Vitinha also addressed the circumstances surrounding Ronaldo’s departure from the national team camp. Rather than allowing the situation to distract the squad, he said the players focused on the match and responded as a group.
Portugal will now look to build on the victory as Jesus continues to implement his footballing philosophy.
For Vitinha, the performance against Denmark represented more than just three points. He believes it showed that the players are beginning to understand what their new manager expects from them, with the team hoping to maintain that progress in their upcoming fixtures.
