American rapper Rick Ross has been arrested in Miami Beach, Florida, over allegations of domestic violence involving a woman he was reportedly in a relationship with.
The rapper, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts II, surrendered to Miami Beach police on Thursday, October 1, 2026, and was taken into custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

According to an arrest affidavit, the alleged incident occurred on August 28 at Ross’ residence on Miami Beach’s Star Island.
The woman reportedly told police that an argument began after Ross questioned her about an Instagram photograph in which she had been tagged. She alleged that the disagreement escalated, with Ross accusing her of being involved with another man.
She further alleged that the rapper slapped her several times, struck her in the chest and restricted her breathing by twisting the collar of her clothing around her neck.
The woman also alleged that Ross grabbed her by the hair and slammed her against a wall before striking her in the face, leaving her with an injured lip.
She reportedly left the residence after the alleged confrontation and later returned to collect her belongings when Ross was no longer there.
Ross’ legal team has denied the allegations and maintained that the rapper is innocent. His lawyer urged the public not to rush to judgment, saying the legal process should be allowed to establish the facts of the case.
Ross entered a not-guilty plea. His bond was set at $6,000 in total, consisting of $5,000 for the felony strangulation charge and $1,000 for the misdemeanor battery charge.
A judge also ordered him to stay away from the alleged victim.
His arraignment has been scheduled for October 22.
The arrest comes shortly after Ross’ former girlfriend, Jazzma Kendrick, publicly accused him of physical abuse on social media. She shared photographs of an alleged injury and made claims about their relationship, although it has not been established whether those allegations are directly connected to the criminal case.
The allegations against Rick Ross have not been proven in court, and the rapper remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
