He urged politicians to exercise restraint in their public statements and avoid remarks capable of inflaming passions or encouraging their supporters to engage in confrontations.

According to the police, maintaining peace requires the cooperation of political leaders, their supporters, community leaders and other stakeholders. The command therefore urged everyone involved in political activities to conduct themselves responsibly and respect the law.

The warning comes amid heightened political activities in Osun, where competing political interests have continued to mobilise supporters and prepare for upcoming political developments.

The police said it would not allow individuals or groups to exploit political disagreements to create instability or disrupt the peace of the state.

Gotan also emphasised the importance of allowing residents to go about their lawful activities without fear or intimidation. He called on political actors to resolve disagreements through lawful and democratic channels rather than resorting to threats, provocative statements or actions capable of escalating tensions.

The commissioner further assured residents that the command would continue to monitor developments across the state and take appropriate measures to protect lives and property.

He warned that individuals whose actions or statements cross the boundaries of the law would be dealt with accordingly, regardless of their political affiliation or status.

The police command also appealed to members of the public to remain calm and avoid spreading information capable of heightening tensions. Residents were encouraged to report suspicious activities and cooperate with security agencies to prevent disturbances.

As political activities intensify, the latest warning from the Osun State Police Command highlights the growing emphasis on responsible political conduct and peaceful engagement.

The command maintained that political differences are expected in a democratic society, but such differences must not be allowed to threaten public safety or undermine the peace of the state.
