A disturbing report from the Kano State Fire Service has revealed that five people lost their lives while property worth more than ₦120 million was destroyed in a series of fire outbreaks recorded across the state in June, highlighting the devastating impact of fire incidents on lives and livelihoods.

According to the agency, firefighters responded to 30 separate fire emergencies during the month, working tirelessly to contain the blazes and prevent even greater destruction. Despite the tragic loss of five lives, the service disclosed that it successfully rescued three people from dangerous situations and prevented properties valued at approximately ₦481.8 million from being consumed by fire through timely intervention.

The Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Sani Anas, said the agency also handled seven rescue operations and responded to one false alarm during the period.
