The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has arrested a 56 year old man identified as Iliasu and his three sons over their alleged involvement in kidnapping activities in Oba Akoko, Akoko South West Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects were apprehended during a security operation carried out by Amotekun operatives following intelligence gathering and sustained efforts to combat the growing wave of kidnapping in parts of Ondo State. According to the corps, the operation also led to the successful rescue of a kidnap victim and the recovery of ransom money allegedly linked to the criminal gang.
Speaking on the development, the Commander of the Ondo State Amotekun Corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, said the arrests demonstrate the agency’s determination to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure the safety of residents. Adeleye noted that the rescued victim was freed through the swift intervention of Amotekun operatives, while part of the ransom allegedly collected by the suspects was recovered during the operation. He added that investigations were ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the criminal network who may still be at large.
The Amotekun commander reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to strengthening security across Ondo State and urged residents to continue providing credible information that could assist security agencies in preventing crime. He stressed that collaboration between the public and security operatives remains essential in tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes.
