The Federal Government has unveiled plans to extend the Lagos Red Line rail service directly to the domestic and international terminals of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, a move expected to significantly improve connectivity, ease traffic congestion and strengthen Lagos’ position as a leading aviation and commercial hub in Africa. The announcement was made by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, during the opening ceremony of Invest Lagos 3.0.
According to Keyamo, the proposed extension will connect the existing Red Line corridor at Ikeja Bus Stop to key sections of the airport, including the General Aviation Terminal, Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two and the international wing of the airport. The minister explained that the project is being developed in collaboration with the Lagos State Government and other stakeholders as part of broader efforts to modernize transportation infrastructure and enhance passenger mobility within the state.
