Left-back Andy Robertson will leave Liverpool at the end of this season, the faltering Premier League champions announced April 9, 2026. In what could become one of the most talked about Premier League transfers of the summer, Liverpool veteran Andy Robertson is reportedly on the verge of joining Tottenham Hotspur following the expiration of his contract at Anfield. The Scottish defender, who has spent nearly a decade at Liverpool and helped the club achieve remarkable domestic and European success, is now preparing for a fresh chapter in North London.

Reports indicate that Tottenham and Robertson have already reached an agreement in principle, with only final details left before the move is officially confirmed. Spurs had initially tried to sign the experienced left back during the January transfer window, but Liverpool pulled out of negotiations after failing to secure adequate cover in the squad. Now, with Robertson’s contract officially coming to an end, Tottenham have moved quickly to revive the deal and appear set to win the race for his signature.

Robertson played his farewell match for Liverpool in their final league game against Brentford, bringing an emotional end to an extraordinary spell at the club. Since arriving from Hull City in 2017, the Scotland captain established himself as one of the finest left backs in Premier League history. During his time at Anfield, he made over 370 appearances, won multiple major trophies including the Premier League and UEFA Champions League, and became widely respected for his relentless energy, leadership qualities, and attacking contributions from defence.  ..READ THE FULL ARTICLE HERE .

Tottenham’s interest in Robertson is believed to be driven by the club’s desire to add experience and leadership to a squad that narrowly avoided relegation last season. Under new manager Roberto De Zerbi, Spurs are expected to undergo a major rebuild ahead of the new campaign, and Robertson’s arrival could provide much needed stability and winning mentality inside the dressing room.

The move has also attracted attention because of Robertson’s deep connection with Liverpool supporters. The defender became a fan favourite at Anfield for his consistency, passion, and commitment, while his partnership with Trent Alexander-Arnold helped redefine the attacking role of full backs in modern football. His departure signals the end of an era for Liverpool as the club continues reshaping its squad for the future.

Although Juventus reportedly attempted a late hijack of the transfer, several reports suggest Robertson is leaning towards remaining in the Premier League, with Tottenham now in pole position to secure the Scotland international’s signature. An official announcement is expected once contractual formalities are completed
