Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume has commended Nigerian troops for their sustained efforts in rescuing abducted residents of Ngoshe community in Borno State, describing the development as a significant step in the ongoing fight against insurgency in the North East.
The lawmaker, who represents Borno South, praised the troops of Operation Hadin Kai for their bravery and commitment, noting that their operations have led to the successful rescue of some of the hundreds of victims, mostly women and children, who were earlier abducted by suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in Ngoshe village, Gwoza Local Government Area.

The senator highlighted that the progress made so far is a result of intensified military offensives, including coordinated ground and aerial operations targeting terrorist enclaves in difficult terrains such as the Mandara Mountains. These sustained actions, he noted, have weakened insurgent networks and created opportunities for captives to escape or be rescued during operations.
Ndume also used the opportunity to caution individuals and groups claiming to be mediators between the government and insurgents, urging them to work closely with security agencies rather than politicising sensitive security matters. He stressed that any genuine effort to secure the release of captives must be coordinated through official channels to ensure the safety of those still in captivity.
While commending the military successes, the senator also expressed sympathy to families affected by recent attacks in the state, particularly the killing of six people during an invasion of Kautikari village in Chibok Local Government Area. He offered prayers for the victims and urged continued vigilance in confronting the insurgency threat.
The Ngoshe abduction, which involved hundreds of residents earlier in the year, had raised serious concerns nationwide about the resurgence of insurgent activities in the region. However, the ongoing rescue efforts are now being seen as a positive indication that security operations are gradually yielding results despite persistent challenges.
