Cristiano Ronaldo watched from the bench as Portugal secured a 2-1 victory over Norway in their Nations League clash in Oslo.

Portugal took the lead in the 17th minute through João Félix, who continued his impressive start to the campaign by scoring for the second consecutive game.

However, Portugal quickly regained the advantage after Norway goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland made a costly mistake. His pass went straight to Gonçalo Ramos, who calmly chipped the stranded goalkeeper to put Portugal 2-1 ahead.

Ramos later found the net again, but the goal was ruled out for offside after a VAR review.

Ronaldo remained an unused substitute throughout the match despite warming up during the closing stages. The 41-year-old had been expected to feature after starting Portugal’s previous game against Wales.

Portugal manager Jorge Jesus explained that he had initially planned to bring Ronaldo on for the final 30 minutes, but the way the match developed changed his plans.

The victory gives Portugal two wins from two matches in the Nations League, while Ronaldo will now wait for another opportunity to add to his international goals tally.

Portugal will face Denmark on October 1 before meeting Norway again on October 4.
