The Independent National Electoral Commission has opened its online recruitment portal for Nigerians interested in working as ad hoc election personnel during the 2027 general elections.
The recruitment is part of preparations for the elections scheduled to hold in January and February 2027. According to the information released by the electoral commission, the recruitment exercise covers several categories of temporary election officials who will be trained and deployed to support the conduct of the polls.

The recruitment portal, known as INECPRES, is scheduled to open at 8am on Friday, September 18, 2026, and close at midnight on Wednesday, November 18, 2026. Interested applicants are expected to complete their applications before the deadline.
The positions available include Supervisory Presiding Officers, Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers, Registration Area Centre Managers and Registration Area Technical Support personnel. Eligibility differs depending on the position, educational qualification, employment status and the applicant’s institution or organisation.
Serving members of the National Youth Service Corps are among those who may be eligible to apply. Former corps members may also qualify if they meet the conditions specified for their category. Students of federal and state tertiary institutions, eligible government employees, permanent staff of ministries, departments and agencies, qualified INEC personnel and certain ICT personnel are also covered by the recruitment exercise.
For the Supervisory Presiding Officer position, eligible personnel from the federal public and civil service as well as ministries, departments and agencies may apply. Public servants within specified salary grades may qualify, while serving NYSC members and certain former corps members are also included under the stated conditions.
Applicants interested in the Presiding Officer and Assistant Presiding Officer positions may include students of federal and state tertiary institutions, depending on their level of study and other requirements. Certain permanent government employees with qualifications such as OND or NCE may also be eligible.
The Registration Area Centre Manager position is primarily connected with institutions designated to serve as Registration Area Centres or Super Registration Area Centres. Heads of schools and eligible staff members of institutions hosting such centres may qualify if they meet the applicable requirements.
The Registration Area Technical Support position is designed for applicants with relevant information and communication technology backgrounds. Eligible INEC ICT personnel and certain IT students of federal and state tertiary institutions may fall under this category, subject to the requirements.
