The Labour Party has distanced itself from its former National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, following his legal action seeking access to the academic and service records of Peter Obi.
The party said Arabambi is no longer a member after he was among 25 members suspended by its National Executive Council in March over alleged anti party activities. The suspension was later ratified at the party’s national convention in April.
The Labour Party stressed that Arabambi was acting in his personal capacity and had no authority to represent the party in the case involving the West African Examinations Council, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and the National Youth Service Corps...READ THE FULL ARTICLE HERE .
The party warned that any attempt by Arabambi to present himself as an LP chieftain or representative was unauthorised and could amount to impersonation.
Arabambi had filed separate suits seeking access to official records concerning certificates allegedly issued to Obi. He maintained that he was not asking the court to determine whether Obi’s certificates were genuine or forged, but wanted access to records that could clarify their status and details.
The development has added another layer to the growing political controversy surrounding Obi’s credentials ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
