The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye, has urged the Federal Government to take a more decisive approach in tackling Nigeria’s persistent security challenges, calling on authorities to give security chiefs a 90-day deadline to eliminate terrorists or resign from their positions. His remarks come amid growing public concern over continued attacks, kidnappings and violent insurgency across different parts of the country.

Speaking in a video shared on his official social media platform, the respected cleric expressed frustration over the prolonged insecurity that has claimed thousands of lives and displaced countless communities. According to him, the time has come for government officials responsible for national security to be held accountable for results rather than promises. He argued that Nigerians deserve tangible progress in the fight against terrorism and that security agencies must be given clear performance targets.

Adeboye stated that if he were in a position to formally advise the government, he would recommend that the nation’s security chiefs be instructed to eradicate terrorist groups within 90 days or voluntarily leave office. He stressed that the country cannot continue to endure recurring attacks while citizens live in fear and uncertainty. According to him, extraordinary circumstances require bold decisions and unwavering commitment from those entrusted with protecting lives and property.  ..READ THE FULL ARTICLE HERE .

The cleric also emphasized that efforts to defeat terrorism should not stop with armed fighters alone. He called on the government to identify and bring to justice those who finance, sponsor or provide logistical support to terrorist organizations, regardless of their social status, political influence or economic power. Adeboye maintained that lasting peace would remain difficult to achieve if the individuals behind the scenes continue to operate without consequences.

Reflecting on previous administrations, Adeboye recalled that a former Nigerian president had once issued a similar ultimatum to security chiefs, demanding swift action against insurgents. However, he noted that while the directive generated momentum initially, it was not fully enforced after the deadline expired. He suggested that any future ultimatum should be accompanied by strict follow-through to ensure accountability and meaningful outcomes.

His comments have reignited discussions about the effectiveness of Nigeria’s security architecture and the urgent need for stronger strategies to combat terrorism, banditry and kidnapping. Many Nigerians have repeatedly called for tougher measures against criminal networks that continue to threaten communities, disrupt economic activities and undermine national stability. Adeboye’s intervention adds the voice of one of the country’s most influential religious leaders to the growing demand for decisive action.

As insecurity remains a major concern across the nation, the cleric’s message underscores the increasing pressure on the government and security agencies to deliver concrete results. His call for accountability, coupled with his insistence on targeting both terrorists and their sponsors, reflects a broader national sentiment that the fight against insecurity must move beyond rhetoric and produce visible improvements in the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
