President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to reject hatred, division, and bloodshed as Muslims across the country prepare to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir. The President made the passionate appeal after observing Eid prayers at Dodan Barracks in Lagos, where he urged citizens to embrace tolerance, compassion, and peaceful coexistence for the sake of national unity and stability.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the prayers, Tinubu described Eid-el-Kabir as a sacred season that reminds people of sacrifice, obedience, generosity, and total submission to the will of God, drawing inspiration from the example of Prophet Ibrahim. He stressed that Nigerians must use the occasion to strengthen bonds of brotherhood regardless of ethnic, religious, or political differences.

Tinubu also emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law and maintaining tolerance in everyday interactions. He urged Nigerians to remain patient and peaceful despite challenges facing the nation, while expressing confidence that unity and collective sacrifice would help the country achieve greater development and prosperity.
The President further condemned violence, criminality, banditry, and the unlawful taking of lives, stating clearly that no religion supports the killing of innocent people. He encouraged citizens to protect the sanctity of human life and support the less privileged during the festive period.
Also present at the Eid prayers were Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, former Lagos governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, the Oba of Lagos Rilwan Akiolu, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu alongside other dignitaries.
In a similar message, Deputy Governor Hamzat urged Nigerians to embrace patience, godliness, and peaceful coexistence, noting that parents and guardians have a responsibility to raise children with strong moral values and respect for human life. The Grand Chief Imam of Lagos State, Sheikh Sulaimon Abou-Nolla, also called on Muslims to remain steadfast in faith while promoting sacrifice, unity, and generosity as taught in Islam. He offered prayers for President Tinubu and the nation, asking God to grant Nigeria peace, wisdom, and continued stability.
