Real Madrid have plunged deeper into internal turmoil after the club imposed a massive financial penalty on midfield stars Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouameni following a violent altercation in the team’s dressing room that has shaken the Spanish giants just days before a crucial stretch of fixtures.

According to reports, the club has fined both players €500,000 each, bringing the total sanction to €1 million, after an incident that escalated from a training ground disagreement into a physical confrontation inside the dressing room at the club’s Valdebebas training complex. The disciplinary action comes as part of an internal response aimed at restoring order within a squad increasingly described as fractured and under pressure.

The altercation is said to have begun during a tense training session before spilling over into the dressing room, where emotions reportedly boiled over. Sources indicate that the situation escalated rapidly, leading to Valverde sustaining a head injury after hitting a table during the chaos, an incident serious enough to require medical attention and a brief hospital visit.

Club medical staff later confirmed that Valverde suffered a cranioencephalic trauma, a type of concussion, and was placed under observation before being advised to rest for around 10 to 14 days in line with medical protocols.   His injury has ruled him out of immediate action and raised concerns over his availability for upcoming high profile matches, including key fixtures in the title race.

Real Madrid have officially opened disciplinary proceedings against both players, describing the incident as unacceptable and confirming that both were required to appear before internal investigators.   Despite the severity of the situation, the club has not imposed sporting suspensions, instead opting for financial penalties as the conclusion of its internal review.

Reports suggest that tensions within the squad had been building for days prior to the incident, with earlier disagreements between the two midfielders contributing to the breakdown in relations. What began as a heated training ground exchange is understood to have developed into a more serious confrontation that required intervention from club officials and senior staff.

Both Valverde and Tchouameni have since expressed remorse over the situation and reportedly apologised to each other, teammates, coaching staff, and the club hierarchy. The club has also indicated that both players cooperated fully with the disciplinary process, a factor that may have influenced the decision to avoid further sanctions beyond the financial fines.

The incident has intensified scrutiny on the atmosphere inside the Real Madrid dressing room, with reports of growing tension as the club battles a difficult season and mounting pressure on and off the pitch. Analysts suggest that the internal conflict reflects deeper frustrations within the squad as expectations remain high while performances fluctuate.

For now, Real Madrid are attempting to contain the fallout and refocus attention on their sporting objectives, but the €1 million fine and the circumstances surrounding the clash have left fans and observers questioning the stability of one of football’s most successful clubs at a critical point in the season.
